ModCloth & Little Mai Sunshine

ModCloth & Little Mai Sunshine

So on one Wednesday afternoon, I received a little surprise in my email with the subject heading "ModCloth & Little Mai Sunshine". Like a giddy little fangirl, I was overly excited to see what ModCloth had to email me about. I've always been a fan of the items they sold there with their cute apparel and even cuter accessories. Basically a girly girl's dream closet. I mean I even bought my 21st birthday dress from this site! They have the most unique styles of dresses that are completely worth it. So be sure to check them out because I know I do every now and then.

They approached me with an opportunity to participate in the Uniquely You campaign by creating a look based on the item they sent me. This item is the Palette On Parade Dress. I absolutely adore the vibrant orange-y color and the eccentric pattern--reminds me of a beautiful summery sunny day. And the cute frock look completely reminded me of the show Mad Men (whether that's politically accurate or not, that's what I think of anyways), subtly bringing back the retro/vintage style. That's why I went for a classy and extra girly look. I wanted to keep the focus on the dress while adding complementary pieces. For example, the black and white striped cardigan gave it another pattern without taking away from the emphasis of the colors on the dress and its slim structure kept the shape without losing the waistline. I added royal blue accents because for some reason I feel like orange and royal blue go so well together without looking overly loud. It also kept with the happy mood of the bright colors. The belt would also act as a waist-emphasizer and a pop of color on the dress. And finally, I threw in the sequin clutch to top off the look. Now all you need is your favorite red lipstick and red nails, and your hair tied up to complete your super retro-style outfit. A perfect summer or spring look for a special occasion--I'm thinking tea-party-esque.

I would like to thank ModCloth for giving me this opportunity to participate in their campaign. I hope I was able to communicate a little bit of my style in this look. I had a lot of fun putting it together!

Happily yours,
Mai Sunshine
