Finally getting some R&R time before the school term begins which means I'll be vacationing on the other side of the country in California for two weeks and I can't be any more excited! If I was just a little more spontaneous and detached from my hometown, I would so move out there by now because of its beautiful year-round weather, tons of adventurous activities, the unbelievable dance opportunities, etc. Anyways, I'll still update my blog so to all my loyal readers, don't you worry! But if you'd like to follow me on my California trip, follow my instagram @maisunshine55.

The beauty of maxi dresses is that it's perfect for those breezy summer days. I found this unique white number in my mom's closet and really liked the sheer pattern showing some leg but still a maxi dress. And I try to take advantage of the light colors as much as possible in the summer because once fall comes around, it's all about darker combos so I threw on a loose tan sweater. It isn't heavy or thick so it works in the summer because it's light enough to bear the gentle breeze. But to add some colors to the tan/white combo, I wore a floral headband with light tones to keep the summery vibe. I got this headband for free when I bought my 21st bday dress from ModCloth and thought it was so cute to wear. It also adds a bohemian look to the overall outfit, which I'm always a fan of. My silver watch was just a simple accessory I thought I could add as subtle jewelry that went with the whole color scheme.

Peace and love from Cali,
Mai Sunshine

Style tip: Only throw on a loose, big sweater over a form-fitting, straigh maxi skirt or dress to contrast shapes without looking too bulky and heavy
