Happy Thursday!

It's been a while since I've done a Style Inspiration post (okay, like two months) but don't worry, I'll still be doing them. And this month my Style Inspiration is Lauren Chang. She's a senior at Rutgers who also shares a love for fashion and you can definitely tell from her outfit here. I only knew her through friends but I noticed that she had a unique style that really stood out to me so I just had to ask to feature her. I also love how she incorporated tartan pants and ankle boots since those are serious trends this season and I don't think you can tell but the collar flap of her coat has a simple fur trim, a minor detail that really adds texture. The outfit overall was the perfect combination of simple and chic with careful attention to detail.

1. How would you describe your style?
I think I'm pretty minimalistic but I like to go bold sometimes. I am in love with studs, spikes, leather and the colors black and gold...definitely not the girly type.

2. Who or what do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Mainly from Pinterest and some bloggers that I really admire are The Blonde Salad, Songofstyle, and WeWoreWhat. My "idol" is Miranda Kerr though.

3. What made you choose this outfit?
I actually got these pants from Korea a few years ago and people were like: "What made you get this..." but now I like to show it off and prove them that it could look good now.

4. What would be your "Style Tip" for this outfit?
Keep things simple because the plaid is distracting enough.

5. Name a few things in your closet that you must keep.
A black leather jacket should be in every girl's closet, oxfords, a simple white tee, a chunky knit sweater, and faux-leather pants.

6. Where do you usually shop?
Zara is my go-to place and Loehmann's has the best bargains for any brand clothing, and wherever else that has a sale.

7. What are some trends right now that you a fan of?
I love that tomboy style right now like the boxy coats, chelsea boots, distressed jeans, plaid everything, and oxfords...metallic ones.

8. What do you think makes your style stand out?
I pay attention to details. I think unique details can make any simple outfit standout like structured shoulders, asymmetric cuts, or studs here and there. Mixing the outfit with different kinds of fabrics can make a huge difference also.

Thanks Lauren for helping me with my Style Inspiration feature this month :)

Be on the lookout for future guest features!

Love,
Mai Sunshine
