Happy Valentine's Day eve! Thanks for coming back to see the third look of my Valentine's Day series! I hope you're enjoying my second holiday series :)

Okay so you're not going on that classy date, but you're also not taking over the town with your girls...so maybe it's a casual night out in the city as any other Friday evening. Nothing over the top, just something easy-going to spend your Valentine's Day. Well, that's how this outfit came about anyways. Sometimes I just feel like looking stylish and cute without standing out too much and keeping it subtly chic.

I've been on the hunt for the perfect midi pencil skirt for quite some time now so I was pretty surprised to find this velvet number for $11 at Marshalls (okay, maybe not all that surprised because Marshalls never disappoints). And I absolutely love it. Black goes with just about anything and the velvet gives an outfit some texture. I also love how midi skirts look so chic, while making you appear taller when you wear heels. I paired it with a cropped sweater that appropriately has the words "Je T'aime" on it....how fitting for a Valentine's Day outfit! Then I threw on the leather jacket and a bright red infinity scarf for a pop of color. I always like pairing my lace-up corset heels with this skirt because with the open toes and laces tied up, I appear even taller (check out urbanog.com or windsorstore.com for similar heels for cheap). A subtly cool outfit for a casual Friday night out in the city. Not overly festive but still sporting that red.

Which is your favorite outfit so far of my Valentine's Day series?! Check back tomorrow to see the last look and find out what I'll be doing for my Valentine's Day plans :)

Avec amour,
Mai Sunshine

Style Tip: With midi skirts, pair it with cropped tops or tucked in blouses so you don't shorten the look. Midi skirts work when you can see the whole thing.
