Happy Thursday!

So I'm writing this post quite hastily as I am chilling in the Poconos, recovering from my first snowboarding experience yesterday with some of my friends, but I hope you're all enjoying your winter days warmly! I know I wasn't when I took these photos in the dead cold of Chinatown. But it's okay because my friend Janice (check out her beautiful blog!) and I had a a cozy date indoors at the cutest little NYC spots. And don't worry, I layered up as much as possible to keep warm and toasty. See those tights? Yeah, I wore about 3 pairs including a knit one underneath.

Pairing this vibrant green and subtle gold together made me feel a little like money, hence the title post...if only it were true. I liked the rich (no pun intended) color of the blazer complimented by the hints of gold on the cream skirt. But I wanted to make the look less formal so I wore a denim button down with a graphic tee underneath, creating more layers for extra warmth. I love these heeled booties I got on sale at H&M for $20! Such a great deal for a pair of shoes I'll be happily wearing with all my winter outfits, adding some girly edge to the looks including this one. And if you haven't already guessed, I can't get enough of scarves, especially during this season. I just have an excuse to always get a new one. This one, which I got as a Christmas gift a while back, was particularly perfect for this cold, cold day since it was knit and bulky to bury my face in to protect from the wind. Since it was black and white, it didn't take away from the vibrant green blazer. A casual classy look for for a cute city date with my girl.

Thanks for reading!

Love,
Mai Sunshine

Style Tip: The fitting blazer keeps your shape over all those layers underneath and contrasts the color and shape of the skirt. Black tights also bring more focus to the colors on top.
