First blog post of the new year! I hope you all enjoyed your holiday break and New Year's Eve festivities with your loved ones. Now it's time to get back into that school/work/etc. grind and achieve those New Year resolutions (or at least attempt to). I know I have big plans ahead for this blog in the upcoming year so I'm excited to see how they unfold, and I hope you guys get to share the experience with me!

Anyways, you guys are probably aware of the uncanny frigid weather that has occurred over here and if you hate the cold as much as I do (sorry, I'm a summer baby), then you've probably taken refuge in the warm indoors, particularly underneath a few layers of blankets. Not exactly a fan of negative degree weather...but for those who are braving that frozen air, stay warm and layer up! For example, the faux fur vest is a great layering accessory and a clothing piece I found to be a winter favorite of mine after pairing it with all my outfits. At first, I wasn't going to get one just because all the ones out there are at least $30 or more. But then I saw this baby at a thrift store for just $12 and I haven't stopped wearing it ever since. It's pretty warm and the perfect layering piece over sweaters, jackets, shirts, etc. while complimenting every outfit very nicely. In this look, I paired it over this sweater that I received from Adidas NEO all thanks to my friend Melanie over at Aetherlily. I loved that the cutout sleeves added something extra to the outfit and paired perfectly with my geometric cutout skirt (also bought from Melanie's store here). And while we're playing around with layers, I threw on Heattech legwarmers over black tights. I highly recommend you invest in Heattech clothing, especially for this extremely cold weather.

Looking back at these photos, I realized the faux fur vest and knit beanie make me resemble an animal of some sort...

Stay toasty and warm,
Mai Sunshine

Style tip: Layer, layer, layer! Knit sweaters and faux fur vests work great together especially since the vest is neutral-colored enough to work with any outfit.
